So the other night around 1 a.m. Sheri, Francis, Jerome, and I got a craving for some frozen yogurt and we decided to hit up the only fro-yo place open till 2 in the morning, Mochi. Truly laterisers style.

If you remember a house i designed in Googles SketchUp (a very easy and simple to use 3d modeling program), this is the second installment to that post. If you remember the first post you may also remember that I said I would try to do at least one of these posts every week…well that didn’t happen, haha.

To compensate for the lack of SketchUp posts I have two houses for you! I’ve decided to do something kind of interesting with the program. Instead of saving each house/building in its own file, I’ve decided to save all of them on one file. Essentially, I will be building a city! Each neighborhood will be a different study on a certain architectural style. For example, this first neighborhood will consist of houses/buildings designed with a contemporary style.

If you have any design requests let me know! I will try my best to build something that will represent that style of architecture.

Inspired by Justin Silangs Na’vi portrait, I decided to do a couple of photoshop projects myself! The first is a pseudo HDR photo. “Pseudo”, because I did not actually take multiple pictures at different exposures. The second is a portrait picture done in a typographic style, the picture explains the definition. Both were done by following tutorials found anywhere online.

Fresh off the Beat Freestyle

Fresh off the Beat was asked by one of the presidential candidates at UCF to do a freestyle for them in front of the student union. The routines that we came up with were all made pretty last minute. Overall it was pretty fun and we got a pretty good crowd. Here are the two routines we came up with: (don’t forget to watch it in HD!)

Look at what came in the mail today!

This type of toy is from a series called Nendoroids. They are characterized by oversized heads and tiny bodies making them very “kawaii” or cute. Produced by Good Smile company.

Fans of the series will immediately recognize this classic character. Those of you who are not familiar, Deathnote is an anime or Japanese cartoon. The story is based around a notebook that has special “death-dealing” powers; it’s a must watch! “L” is one of the main characters and is probably one of my favorite anime characters of all time.

If I weren’t a Digital Media major I could see myself getting into architecture. I have always had an interest in contemporary/modern style architecture and interior design. In fact, the main reason why I buy The Sims series of video games is to build houses!

A great place to check out contemporary style homes and interiors is on the contemporist. I originally saw this site on Justin Silang’s tumblr (who is also one of the founders and contributors to laterisers.com!). I’d like to share a couple of houses I have designed on The Sims 3 and Google Sketchup.

The house above was done pretty quickly on Google Sketchup. Google Sketchup is program which is mainly used for developers to create 3d structures for Google Earth. Originally introduced to me by Tracy Grady, the program is awesome and simple to use. This is the first house I’ve done and I hope to do at least one per week! I am still learning the program but I already like it better than The Sims. Unlike The Sims 3, with Sketchup, one is only limited by his or her imagination.

Vinyl Toys

I have always had an interest in vinyl toys like the figures Kid Robot puts out. Always wanted to design one myself but never thought I had the skill. A few days ago I was at Urban Outfitters and found a Munny, but it was shaped like a cat! I had to pick it up.

This is my first time designing one so don’t be too critical! haha

Apparently the name of the toy is "Trikky" as apposed to the ones you normally see aka "Munny"

The first stages. Drew everything on with a pencil.

Chillen with some of my other desktop companions.

Started to outline the pencil drawings with sharpie paint.

Had to tape off some areas to keep the paint off unwanted surfaces

Finished product! nothing too crazy.

Simply Clean car meet coverage : by Troy Slaten

Simply Clean, a car meet hosted by Reign and Deepvision, aims to change the car meet scene by only allowing cars that are, for the lack of a better phrase, simple and clean. For example, on their flyer it clearly states “no fast and furious” styled cars. With a pre-register limit of 60 cars, applicants must be selected to participate in the meet. When I first heard of this meet I was very interested in seeing what kind of showing Simply Clean would offer.

It did not disappoint. Probably one of the best meets I’ve been to in florida, Simply Clean is a meet I will look forward to every time it is held. Kim Francisco came with me and we both wished we could have stayed longer. Unfortunately we only stayed for about an hour but I got a few decent pictures. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, I only had my 50 mil lens so it made it difficult to frame the picture properly. To get the whole car in the picture I had to stand waaay back so many of the pictures are cut off.

Well thats about all the pics I took! There are others but they aren’t even worth posting because the quality of the pictures aren’t good. There were a lot more cars but once again we were only there for about an hour.

With a new year comes new experiences, we will experience joy and happiness, and we may encounter some hardships. But for the most part, this year will be what you make of it; so make it a good one!

2010 is going to be a great year but I’d like to look back at the past year and outline some highlights
